xx OSLib MOD

I know it's been far too long since I wrote a news post, but I found something that caught my eye, and I'm sure will interest a fair few of our members here at psp-programming.com.

It's a mod for a pretty cool lib - Old School Lib which helps you to make old-school looking 2D games easily.

It adds things like dialogs, on screen keyboard, USB connectivity, sound, fonts, VFPU functions, remote control functions, ad-hoc multiplayer, and more. Adding this functionality to your app will all be much easier if you use this lib.

xx Custom Firmware 3.80 M33 and 1.50 Kernel Addon
January 15, 2008, 07:56:19 PM by gibbocool
------------
**Update**
3.80 M33 - 4 and a new popsloader have just been released!
------------

Dark_Alex - the superhero of the PSP world - has just given us a few lovely gifts! We have

  • Custom firmware 3.80 with all Sony's features
  • A nifty new Network Update feature that lets you update to new custom firmware with ease! Suspiciously, a user on this very forum requested this feature a mere week ago and here it is. Link to original thread.
  • 1.50 Kernel mode is back!

Prior to installing you’ll need your PSP running CFW 3.52 M33-3 or higher. Plans for a Pandora Battery installation will be released in the future.

Installation:

  • Copy the UPDATE folder into /PSP/GAME/
  • Get the 3.80 Sony update below, rename to 380.PBP, and put it in same folder.
  • Run it, the update will be done by Sony updater. At the end when you are asked to reboot the PSP pressing X or O, do it.

3.80 M33 Changes:

  • HEN core: user mode can load now signchecked files from flash.
  • recovery: flash1 format will create flash1 directories after format. This could fix some flash1 issues with the previous versions.
  • Network update from dark-alex.org page. By default is enabled. You can turn it off in recovery (when off, network update will download sony updates as usual).
  • Nids resolver for various kernel libraries.

M33 - 2 Changes:

  • Function scePowerGetClockFrequency / scePowerGetClockFrequencyInt was not resolved properly due to confusion between two nids applying to the same function. Fixed, this update is necessary for plugins and kernel homebrew reporting PSP CPU speed.
  • PSX EBOOT.PBP that have an icon of 80×80 pixels will not be replaced by Dracula icon in savedata.

Users should note: "…popsloader plugin from 3.71 will not work in 3.80 M33 due to its system dependency. A new one will be rewritten for 3.80 M33."

And of course let's not forget Sony's 3.80 update changes:

  • The function [Radio via Internet] has been added under [Network].
  • The import of channels OPML format is now possible under [RSS Channel].
  • Pictures can now be displayed under [RSS Channel].
  • New visualization effects were added to the viewer under [Music].

1.50 Kernel Addon Instructions:

PSP Fat users who have upgraded to Dark_AleX’s latest custom firmware can now utilize 1.50 kernel-enabled apps & games. PSP Thin users will have to wait unfortunately.

  • Download the 1.50 kernel add on package;
  • Copy to your memory stick as you would any other 3.80 homebrew;
  • Grab the Sony 1.50 update, rename to 150.PBP, and copy to the memory stick’s root directory; i.e.) X:\ ms0:\ et...

xx PSP MAC Spoofer
December 14, 2007, 03:07:02 PM by gibbocool
Now here's a nifty little hack from the big man Dark_Alex himself!
This is a plugin to spoof your PSP’s mac address. As detailed in the readme:

This plugin does NOT:

  • Change the mac address stored in idstorage (that’s useless, as that is just to show the info in xmb). Therefore you will still see your old mac in system info.
  • Change the read only mac address stored in the wlan chip.

This plugin DOES:

  • Change the mac address that your psp will send to other wireless devices. This is useful if you want to hide your real mac address from other people for some reason, or if you want to bypass some mac filter protection of your neighbour. You can see your spoofed mac address when you test a connection in the XMB, or if you look into router logs. By default, the Sony firmware “tells” the wlan chip firmware to use the internal mac address. This plugin just changes that.
