Hi, this is my first release of anything. (Not my first app, but release) So go easy on me! Wink

Any way it is called Locked Out! V1.0 which is a non-bricking, simple to use security app coded in lua.

Usage of this app will not brick your psp, but the installation requires luaplayer hm 8 drivers to be installed, which writes to flash, and the risk with writing to flash Shocked... but if done right, should not brick! Very Happy

The actual program will not brick. Just be sure to back up Flash1! Everything you need will be in the detailed readme that is included.

The starting password is "password".

From the readme:

This is meant to be a simple, non bricking security app.

NOTE: This will not protect from people who are seriously determined to get into your psp, and/or just know what they are doing. It is meant to protect from those people who just pick up your psp without permission and play it, or change setting exc. This will annoy them and above that, simply make them put it down and give up....

If this recieves enough intrest, I can make future versions of it, which may include:

Changing password manually through the psp.

         Sounds, pics, anything like that.

        Higher security.

And many other things.

Please try and give feedback, and suggestions.

Thanks,

Coolbeans.

You can change the password by opening lua script in notepad, and find where it is openly laid out to change. Instrucions are inside the script.

Thanks.

Sounds quite good!

Good idea. I'm sure it'll come in handy for many people.

But isn't there already a pin code system built into the PSP that you can activate?

Yes, the pin code is only for parental things such as playing a rated "m" game or the internet browser, but not just to get into the psp.

It is useful for stopping people from just picking it up and playing without permission.

Thanks!

Ok.

But someone can use the HOME button, or remove and reinsert the battery, or just after picking up you PSP don't place it back

Good point. But I use luaplayer hm 8 and if you have the lua hm drivers installed, the home button is disabled. The ONLY way to get around this if you don't know the password is through the recovery menu, which most of the people who just want to mess around with the psp, will not know how to get into that.

Thanks for feedback,

Coolbeans.  Very Happy

You guys should download and try it. The readme is VERY detailed, so if you have any questions you might want to read that first, it answers most questions.

Thanks.

Sorry coolbeans, if I was you I should look for new colleagues, friends and/or family (people that don't like to mess up your PSP), until you make a totally safe system (including removing the memory stick and connect it to the PC, lookup the lua script and find the password), it's in my opinion totally useless.

Maybe I have to explain my rant a little bit more

Full security is a business for professionals, half security is to show your colleagues, friends and / or family "I don’t thrust you".

And I like to thrust my colleagues, friends and family to not steel from me or break my personal properties (and if they break something by accident or ignorance to tell me).

I see. That is a good point, and I understand Wink. I just made this to see if I could do it for one, and just to try out because the iphones and itouches have a password, just experimenting, and then sharing it with the community Very Happy This is not my main focus anyway. I am working on a few games that I will release when finished.

Basically, it was a small project that I tried and shared, nothing big. Cool

Also, nobody was actually bothering me by "messing with" my psp. I just wanted to try it out. My friends and family, they would not do anything like that, and if they broke it they would tell me (I also would trust them with it too:)). I just thought it might also be a "deterent" if someone tried to steal it.

Coolbeans.

Thanks. Ya, this is only a small experimental app, so it is not much or means anything Cool. Anyway, could it be possible that you could look at the flipping text post that I made in lua help. Maybe you could help me there. You could also help me test my game, and give me suggestions. Just tell me if you want to test. I have a beta version of one of them ready to test!

Thanks. Very Happy
